A LITTLE PRACTICE, A LOT THAT STAYS
Bring your flashcards to Recall: text, CSV and Anki imports
Bring the card text you already own into a new Recall deck. Supported formats: pasted term/definition text, Anki plain-text exports, TSV and CSV. Review the preview before saving.
First, open Recall’s importer
In your workspace, use the “Switching from Quizlet?” import button, or open Your data & settings → Import from Quizlet, Anki text or CSV. Imports create a new deck and start a fresh review schedule. They do not transfer another app’s review history.
From Quizlet
- Use Quizlet’s website, sign in and open a set you created.
- Open the set’s more menu (⋯) → Export. Choose a tab between terms/definitions and a new line between cards, then Copy text.
- In Recall choose “Quizlet export / pasted text” and paste. Match the separators if you chose different ones.
- Check Front and Back columns, name your deck, confirm you reviewed the preview, then Import.
Quizlet currently limits exporting to your own original sets on the website. Copied sets and images cannot be exported through this flow. If Export is missing, use your original notes or another permitted export. A Quizlet link alone cannot be imported. Quizlet’s export instructions.
From Anki / AnkiDroid / AnkiMobile
- In Anki Desktop, choose File → Export, select your deck and choose Notes in Plain Text (.txt).
- In Recall choose “Anki plain-text export” and upload the text file.
- Map the question and answer fields to Front and Back. Preview before importing.
If your mobile app only gives you an Anki package, open that package in Anki Desktop first and export the notes as text. Recall does not import .apkg/.colpkg packages directly. Images/audio and scheduling do not transfer; HTML formatting is stripped. Anki’s export manual.
From Knowt
Knowt’s documented export is PDF: Materials → set’s three-dot menu → Export as PDF → Save as PDF. This is not a direct Recall card import. For an exact transfer, arrange the permitted question/answer text into two spreadsheet columns and save as CSV. Alternatively, use Recall’s Create a deck → Upload PDF or text to generate new AI drafts from selectable PDF text, then check every card. That uses your AI allowance and can change or omit content. Knowt’s export instructions.
From Brainscape
Use Brainscape’s export/backup option for a deck you are permitted to export. If you receive a CSV or text file, open it in a spreadsheet and identify the question and answer columns. In Recall choose CSV spreadsheet, upload the CSV and map those columns. Export access depends on your permissions; do not assume every shared or certified deck is exportable. Extra fields, images and learning progress may not carry over. Brainscape’s guidance and export link.
From RemNote
Open your document’s three-dot menu → Export. Choose an available text format and arrange the questions and answers as two columns for Recall’s CSV importer. RemNote’s native backup, Markdown document and Anki package are not direct Recall imports. If you export an Anki package, open it in Anki Desktop and re-export Notes in Plain Text before importing here. Nested notes, media and review history do not transfer through this route. RemNote’s export instructions.
Other apps, Excel and Google Sheets
If an app lets you export your own cards as CSV, TSV or text, use that file. For unsupported formats, make a spreadsheet with two columns: Front and Back. Save/download as CSV—not XLSX—and choose CSV spreadsheet in Recall. Turn “First row is a header” on if your file includes column names. We do not claim a direct integration with every study app.

If the preview looks wrong
- Everything in one column? Change the separator to tab, comma or semicolon to match the file.
- Answers on the front? Swap the Front and Back column selections.
- Header imported as a card? Enable “First row is a header.”
- Empty sides? Remove blank rows and check the mapped columns.
- Large deck? Split into batches of up to 500 cards. Text uploads must be smaller than 4 MB; pasted text has a separate input limit.
Keep the original export as a backup. Imported cards start fresh; they do not preserve source-app streaks, mastery, audio, images or scheduling. Only import material you own or have permission to use. For a full Recall-to-Recall backup, use the JSON export/import in Settings.
